Reduces the period to gain your Restricted and Full motorbike licences by up to 6 months each.
These courses are more suited for riders with experience (unlicensed riders who what to make things right)
How do I go about it?
The first step is to pass the basic skills handling test (done by us) then pass the Class 6 Learners theory test at any driver licencing agent.
From there you are recommended to take a Ride Forever course subsidised by ACC (we provide these courses in conjunction with 2 Drivesafe) a $20.00 Bronze course is aimed to help you gain the skills to pass the Restricted assessment.
Once you have your Restricted motorbike licence you are recommended to take a subsidised Ride Forever silver course at a cost of $50.00. This is aimed to help you with the skills to gain your full motorbike licence. You can take the full assessment at any time when on a restricted motorbike licence but can’t put it onto your licence until you have held your restricted for 12 months.
The Ride Forever courses are a full day with 1 - 2hrs in the classroom then out on the road and in a car park for slow riding. These courses have a syllabus to follow but are adapted to the group participating (max in a group is 6 but we normally have max 4).
CBTA assessments are on the road with town and higher speed limited covered.
The Restricted assessment is about 1 hour but allow up to 2hrs to meet and debrief.
The full assessment is about half an hour but allow 1½ hours to meet and debrief.
What do I need?
You will need to have the use of a Lams (Learner approved motorcycles) motorbike for assessments and training and current licence to suit the course you wish to take.
Note: Lams list can be found on the NZTA website.
After I have my full Motorbike Licence….
ACC can provide you a ride forever Gold course to lift your riding to the next level $50.00 for a full day training.
