Forklift Endorsement (F + OSH)

If you drive a forklift on the road, you must have an F Endorsement on your driver licence. Note that the licence endorsement and the licence class systems work together. Your licence has to cover both the type of vehicle and its weight.

What is the definition of a ‘road’?

The definition of a road, for the application of transport laws, is very broad. It includes not only streets and highways but also any place the public has access to – including bridges, culverts, beaches, riverbeds etc.

What if I only drive a Forklift at the Workplace?

If you drive a forklift in the workplace and not on a road you only need your OSH Certificate.

What is the definition for the work place?

The definition of ‘in the work place’ means you can only use a forklift behind closed gates. It cannot go on streets and highways or any place the public has access to – including bridges, culverts, beaches, riverbeds, reserve lands, wharfs and road shoulders, whether of right or not.

About the Course

F Endorsement & OSH Certificate can be done separate or together. The Attachment, unit 10852, is optional for each individual client.

This course is a day of training and it includes theory and practical parts. Once you have completed all requirements and been found competent you are given a certificate to take to the AA or VTNZ to endorse on your licence. There will be a charge of $44.00 for this.

You do not have to endorse your Osh Certificate. For that you will receive a large certificate for your C.V. and a small one to carry in your wallet.

Unit Standards

• Must hold your Full Car Licence (Other than a motorcycle licence) for your F Endorsement. OSH Certificate does not require a licence but you must be 15 years old.
• Bring Steel Cap boots and a Day Glow jacket if you have them.
